I am a self-proclaimed “Rag Picker” one who travels around the United States and now Internationally rummaging through heaps of discarded human beings for salvage; those who have suffered from different forms of tragedy and life stressors. They find themselves abandoned and ostracized. My passion is to bring a simple gesture of hope, give comfort to their souls, and letting them know they have not been deserted, sharing with them great conversation and a warm brand new pair of socks.
For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’” (Matt. 25: 25 – 40).
The purpose of The-Sokman is to support and encourage homeless people through the distribution of socks. We provide the homeless with foot relief, positive interactions, and connections to resources to assist them in getting off the street. This is accomplished by a dedicated staff of board members through outreach programs, fundraising, and donations.
Our future goals are to become a 501-C3, team up with established centers that support the homeless to distribute socks, and build a team of volunteers that will host sock drives.
Our funds support our website, sock purchases, and vehicle transportation and maintenance.
